Apple will no longer sell its Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the United States after December 24. Apple’s decision to take one of its most popular products comes after an ongoing dispute with Masimo over its blood oxygen feature. The ITC found several Apple Watch infringements on Masimo’s pulse oximeter patents, which sparked a review period where Apple could create a licensing deal with Masimo or appeal to veto the ban.
For Apple, this whole fiasco has not been a good look, as it could negatively impact sales in the first quarter of 2024. At the end of the day, no one wants to be caught infringing on patents.
